Compliance and safety for your staff and patients

The design and set up of your OPG room is one of the key areas in your practice. The investment in the radiology equipment and the safety for your patients are factors to consider when designing the room. Even tough dental practices are catagorised as low–risk, make sure your practice complies with the Radiation Control Act 1990 (the Act) and the Radiation Control Regulation 2013 (the Regulation) and that the room is constructed to support the weight and specifications of the radiology equipment.

Aspects such as the building’s core, space required, patients’ access to the OPG, distances between the walls and the equipment, and the shielding required should also be considered in order to avoid disruptions at a later stage.
