OPG

COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY FOR YOUR STAFF AND PATIENTS

The design and set up of your OPG room is one of your key areas at the practice. The investment in the radiology equipment and the safety for your patients are factors to consider when designing the room. Even tough dental practices have been catalogued as low – risk in the regulations, make sure your practice complies with the Radiation Control Act 1990 (the Act) and the Radiation Control Regulation 2003 (the Regulation) and the room is constructed to support the weight and specifications of the radiology equipment.

Proximity to the building’s core in order to guarantee the stability of the slab, distances between the walls and the equipment, and the shielding required are also factors to consider in order to avoid disruptions at a later stage.
